Fresh Salsa Night

Photobucket

We decided to make some homemade salsa to try with chips and dip, and we found a dinner recipe that called for Salsa so why not use fresh homemade salsa? Plus, I got a Food Processor for Christmas so I was dying to try it out!

Hubs and I overall rated it a 3star- Nothing Spectacular (he wanted less onions- I want more onions and peppers)

Easy Salsa Receipe:
4 Cups of Tomatoes (this was about 5-6 Roma Tomatoes)
Handful of Cilantro (optional I know people who HATE cilantro!)
2 Cloves of Garlic
1 Medium Onion (we only use like a 3rd of an onion because Hubs HATES Onions)
2 SEEDED Jalapenos
2 TableSpoons Lime Juice- add more to taste
Salt- to taste

You can throw it all in a blender or Food Processor and just blend to the thickness/chunkiness you desire,

At first it will look watery and white like this

But once it sits the air will sneak out and you will see the beautiful final product.

OR if you have more time...

Special instructions:

Tomatoes: if you don't want your salsa SUPER watery then take the seeds out. You can do this by slicing into quarters and running the back of your thumb down the center to scoop the seeds out. (you can drink the juice.. my DD loves it!)

Cilantro: I pre-chop this before throwing it in to make sure that the pieces are TINY because a big piece of Cilantro isn't my favorite flavor!

Jalapenos: This is important for everyone!!! Jalapenos can burn your skin and then transfer to your eyes and anything else you touch, wear gloves, or use a towel to hold while taking the seeds out. Cut the stem off, then into quarters and remove the seeds over a garbage.

  1. Looks Yummy!! I am one of "those" people -- but I just replace the Cilantro with Italian Parsley! :)

Food Processor looks awesome!! I need to get one of those!
